Instagram Examines New Option for Collaborative Posting to Encourage Participation

Instagram is experimenting with a new feature that would allow users to add their own photos and videos to an existing post, enabling more direct collaborations within the application.

Viewers of the post would now have the option to submit their own addition for review. The creator would have to approve any additions before they could be seen, effectively enabling curated group photo albums and shared experiences in the app.

If the new option is made available on business accounts, it might have effects on brands as well. Brands could ask users to add their own perspectives to the original post rather than forcing them to add a specific hashtag and then search for UGC.
