According to GroupM’s “This Year Next Year: 2022 E-Commerce & Retail Media Forecast,” the global advertising revenue for retailers will increase from USD 88 billion in 2021 to USD 101 billion this year.

The amount spent on retail media this year accounts for 11% of all advertising and 18% of global digital advertising. By 2027, retail media advertising is expected to grow by about 60% and total USD 160 billion, according to GroupM.

The GroupM forecast shows the rapid expansion of retail media as a component of advertising. The media agency projects that over the next few years, the market will experience increased competition, the decoupling of data from inventory, and a rise in the involvement of non-endemic brands.
