According to a press release, GroupM is joining forces with nearly 20 top advertisers who collectively spend USD 10 billion on advertising in an effort to cut carbon emissions from the world’s media supply chain.

The newly established organization, known as The Media Decarbonization Coalition, is made up of GroupM and its clients, including Audible, AXA, Bayer, Danone, Deutsche Telekom, L’Oréal, Mars, Paramount, Sony, TalkTalk, and Tesco, as well as its agencies Mindshare, Wavemaker, EssenceMediacom, and mSix&Partners.

They will work to enhance GroupM’s earlier environmental initiatives, like a sustainability framework unveiled earlier this year. The group will also encourage industry-wide initiatives to cut the overall amount of carbon-produced advertising while maintaining a pulse on precise measurement.
