According to a press release, WPP’s GroupM has launched a global framework for measuring and reducing carbon emissions from advertising.

In order to monitor emissions across the advertising lifecycle for all formats, channels, and markets, the framework attempts to deconstruct the media value chain and specify data inputs. The framework describes actions advertisers can do to quicken their own de-carbonization efforts in addition to tracking emissions. By decarbonizing its media supply chain by 2030, WPP’s investment business has taken a significant step toward that goal.

The framework, which will be made available to clients later this year, is expected to be the most accurate global carbon calculator in the sector, according to GroupM.
