Google joins other email technology companies working on Brand Indicators for Messaging Identification to combat email fraud.
Fraudulent emails constitute of a growing number of cybercrimes each year, and email technology companies are together fighting this unwavering security risk to their customers. Next year, Google looks forward to joining the growing Brand Indicators for Messaging Identification (BIMI). This is an industry-wide effort to combat email security issues.
BIMI provides a standard for an increasingly secure global framework that will enable inboxes to display sender-designated logos. This multi-step verification process will help end-users recognize emails from verified brands and identify phishing attempts from bad actors. A brand’s email needs to be authenticated through the Domain-based Message Authentication and also abide by the Receiving and Conformance (DMARC) standard.
