Facebook is aiming for that next level of connection, with a new US$10 million funding program aimed at encouraging VR creators to help construct the next social and interactive platforms in the VR environment,.
The newly named ‘Horizon Worlds’ experience offers a virtual sandbox for creators to develop in, which appears to be quite simple at the moment but is becoming more intricate and immersive by the day.
The new funding will be distributed in three streams – Community Competitions, Accelerator Program and Funding for Developers – each aimed at incentivizing distinct aspects of the virtual reality experience. Each of these components will be critical in constructing the VR environment and ensuring that Facebook remains at the forefront of the next stage.
