Facebook has recently announced that it has launched Messenger Rooms, its new videoconferencing tool. The social media giant also reported about expanding its live-streaming features – to capitalize on the surge in demand for video chats amid the coronavirus pandemic.

The new tool will allow up to 50 people to participate in a call – displaying the tiled layout of participants (16 for desktop and 8 for mobile). Besides, there will not be any time limits for the calls. Stan Chudnovsky, Head of Facebook Messenger, mentioned in a statement, “Our video calls doubled, and when we’re looking at the group calls usage, that went up even higher…So we figured out a way to build those things faster.”
