Facebook has recently announced its next big step – its messaging integration plan. It is now introducing cross-messaging functionality that will connect Facebook Messenger and Instagram Direct in multiple ways. In the words of the social media giant, “to bring some of the best Messenger features to Instagram – so you have access to the best messaging experience, no matter which app you use.”

Having different messaging solutions is often confusing to users. Facebook noted, about one in three users indicated it is difficult to remember to find a particular conversation thread. Its future goal is to link all its messaging platforms, including Messenger, Instagram Direct, and WhatsApp. People can then use direct messages without downloading each app.
