Facebook has sued a Hong Kong-based Chinese company for using ads to deceive FB customers. The Chinese company compromised FB users with Malware, instructing them to download an app to sell ‘diet pills and counterfeit goods’.

The Hong Kong-based ILikeAd media, Facebook says, violated its terms and policies around advertising.  What’s worse is they targeted people with deceptive tactics to download malware that allowed the company to access their FB accounts. The ads used digital tactics like ‘celeb bait’, using images of well-known celebrities to encourage people to click on the ads. They also used ‘cloaking’, cheating both Facebook and users by showing one version of a landing page to Facebook’s systems and another to the user.
