In the midst of the region’s unrest, Facebook deployed a 24-hour “special operations center” to react to content posted on its platform about the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
On a conference call with reporters, Monika Bickert, Facebook’s vice president of content policy, said, “This operations center allows us to closely monitor the situation so we can remove content that violates our community standards faster, while also addressing possible enforcement errors.”
The new operations center, as per Facebook’s Bickert, is staffed by experts, including native Hebrew and Arabic speakers.
Facebook has previously established similar operations centers to handle events such as elections globally.
