Facebook has appointed Brian Irving as head of AR and VR product marketing. Prior to this, Irving was the chief marketing officer for Eventbrite. The move comes from the social network as it aims to reach its goal of reaching 1 billion virtual reality users. Irving will report directly to AR/VR chief marketing officer Rebecca van Dyck and promote a range of new initiatives in the sector. Irving will also be involved in Horizon, a planned VR world in which people can create personalized avatars that are then transported to a variety of public spaces and games.
Prior to Eventbrite, Irving was the global marketing director at Airbnb and has also worked as a senior director of marketing at Google and as a director of WW Marketing Communications at Apple.
