Facebook Allows More Users to Switch Off Political Advertisements

Political Advertisements

Facebook has recently announced that it is taking another vital step to reducing political content within user feeds. This is being done by expanding the access to its controls in order to switch off political promotions in the Ad Preferences tab.

In 2020 amid its plans around the US Presidential election, the social media giant announced that the US users could turn off all electoral, political, and social issue ads. This initiative helped in avoiding the expected attack of campaign messaging on the platform.

As noted by Facebook, “The control that allows people to see a fewer social issue, electoral and political ads is now available in more than 90 countries where advertisers are required to get authorized and add “Paid for by” disclaimers to run these ads on our platform.”
