For roughly three hours on Thursday, a Google service used by many large websites that sell and display advertising was unavailable, depriving major news publishers of revenue during the vital holiday season, according to two sources familiar with the issue.

“The issue with Google Ad Manager has been resolved and ad serving has now been restored for the affected users. We apologize for the inconvenience.” Google said in a tweet.

For certain service concerns, Google has in the past reimbursed customers. According to a third source, partial service started returning after approximately two hours and the outage on Thursday has been classified internally as a “P0” event, the company’s highest priority rating for issues.
