The Biden administration has requested two federal appeals courts to reject the Justice Department’s legal challenges to court orders that blocked a Trump-era attempt to ban new TikTok downloads.
Last month, President Joe Biden rescinded a series of executive orders issued by former President Donald Trump that tried to prohibit new downloads of TikTok, WeChat, and other Chinese apps, and ordered a review.
The government’s legal challenges, according to the Justice Department, are now moot. It urged the United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia and the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit to reject its appeals.
