Antitrust Probe Finds Google Abused Dominant Position of Android in India

India’s antitrust body ruled that Google misused its Android operating system’s dominant position in the country, using its vast financial strength to illegally harm competitors, according to a study seen by Reuters.

According to a June study by the Competition Commission of India’s (CCI) investigations unit, Google hindered device manufacturers’ ability and incentive to create and sell devices operating on other versions of Android.

In a statement, Google said it looks forward to working with the CCI to “demonstrate how Android has led to more competition and innovation, not less.”
