Amazon appoints a key executive to oversee Prime Video’s advertising expansion

According to media reports, Amazon has appointed a former Disney executive to lead its efforts to add advertisements to Prime Video.

Ahead of the ad tier’s anticipated launch later this month, Jeremy Helfand is joining the company as vice president and head of advertising for Prime Video. Before taking on more extensive responsibilities at parent company Disney that touched on brands like Disney+ and ESPN, the executive previously assisted in growing Hulu’s advertising business.

Helfand, who announced the change on his LinkedIn page, will direct strategy for a business area that is anticipated to bring in billions more in revenue for Amazon’s media conglomerate and is a crucial component of the streaming industry’s transition to introducing more traditional advertising.
