Alibaba overhauls e-commerce businesses

Alibaba Group Holding Ltd has said it is restructuring its overseas and local e-commerce businesses and will appoint a new CFO.

The changes come as Alibaba faces challenges in a number of areas, including increased competition, slower economy and deteriorating legislation. Alibaba has said it will build two new units to build its major e-commerce businesses – international digital trade and China’s digital trade, in an effort to accelerate and accelerate growth.

The international digital marketing unit will have Alibaba overseas businesses targeting buyers and sellers and include AliExpress, Alibaba.com and Lazada. The unit will be led by Jiang Fan, former president of Taobao and Tmall markets.
