The formation of a new entertainment PLC , EMERGENT ENTERTAINMENT , is announced today.
Emergent Entertainment officially merges London-based video game studio Maze Theory and blockchain veterans and developers Pluto Digital PLC following a successful joint venture between the two companies (Emergent Games) earlier this year.
Emergent Entertainment is a next-generation entertainment company focused on connecting audiences and storytellers through the use of new technologies. The proposed valuation of the new company exceeds US$65 million and the company intends to prepare for a future IPO.
Simon Rutter , former executive vice president of Sony Interactive Entertainment/PlayStation, joins the company as chairman. CEO is Ian Hambleton (formerly CEO of Maze Theory).
Simon has been with PlayStation for 25 years, the last 10 of which have held senior international management positions. Ian has been a successful entrepreneur for 20 years and has founded creative companies in technology, digital, gaming and green tech with Found Studio, Maze Theory and Ecolog.
Emergent Entertainment benefits from the combined legacy of the two combined companies, the skills and experience of its people, as well as its existing product portfolio and capital base. Together, these elements provide the company with a unique set of competencies to successfully deliver engaging content such as mixed reality games, Web3 games and Web3 token services across various entertainment media.
