Elastic (NYSE: ESTC), the parent company of Elasticsearch , today announced the appointment of Barrie Sheers as Vice President, Asia Pacific and Japan (APJ). Sheers will be based in Singapore and report directly to Elastic Chief Sales Officer Michael Cremen.
Sheers will lead Elastic’s business strategy and operations in Asia Pacific and Japan, and will be responsible for overall business growth, particularly strategic growth plans and long-term strategies to drive cloud hypergrowth, new market segment opportunities, and increase customer lifetime value.
Sheers has over 20 years of executive experience leading high-performance customer-focused teams at several of the world’s largest cloud and enterprise technology companies. Before joining Elastic, he was Chief Partner Officer for Asia Pacific and Japan at Microsoft, where he was responsible for building a partner ecosystem in Asia to improve sales performance.
Before that, Sheers was Managing Director of Microsoft New Zealand. Sheers has also held senior positions at Dell Software Group, Quest Software, Sybase and EMC, leading the Asia Pacific and Japan region.
