Digital Marketing Agency Croud Hires Head Of M&A To Bolster Acquisition Plans

DIGITAL MARKETING AGENCY CROUD HIRES HEAD OF M_A TO BOLSTER ACQUISITION PLANS

Croud, the global, full-service digital marketing agency, today announces the appointment of Amit Khanna as Head of Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A), a new role for the business as it looks to turbocharge its growth across all markets through strategic acquisitions.

Since securing a £30m minority investment from LDC in November 2019 and achieving double-digit growth in 2020, Croud is on an ambitious path to further grow the business. The agency is looking to acquire specialist agencies and technology businesses to bolster its offering. This will enhance its already industry-leading service to its clients, which include Vans, IWG, Audible, and The North Face.

Amit, who will be leading Croud’s M&A activity, brings more than 15 years’ experience as an investment professional and corporate lawyer. He has worked for international law firms Baker McKenzie and Charles Russell Speechlys, acting on cross-border M&A and private equity transactions.

Amit’s investment roles have included executing venture capital investments and joint ventures at a family office, and most recently leading the early stage equity investing strategy at sports and music financier 23 Capital.

Amit will be responsible for Croud’s end-to-end M&A activity, from the initial analysis and strategy to running deals. Amit’s role will encompass all global markets, with a particular focus on the UK and the US, where the agency has seen exponentially growing interest in its unique model, which leverages a global Croudie network of 2,400+ on-demand digital experts. The US arm of the business, in particular, has achieved substantial growth, with annual revenue increasing by 57% in the most recent financial year.

Amit Khanna said: “Joining Croud in this new role is a bit of a homecoming for me;  I completed my MBA placement here almost 10 years ago. It’s incredible to see just how much the business has grown and evolved since then.

The last year has really shown the value of the Croudie network, and it’s clear that Luke and Ben’s early bets on pioneering this new way of work have paid off. I’m excited to explore new acquisition opportunities for the business and to identify the businesses that we know will turbocharge Croud’s already enviable client offerings.”

Luke Smith, CEO and co-founder of Croud, said of the appointment: “We’re on a great growth trajectory organically as a business in all our markets. Alongside that, and also because of it, we have a plan to further bolster that growth with acquisitions. Amit will be a key part of making that happen; his previous association with the business made him the ideal choice.

I’ve heard it said before but it’s refreshing to welcome people from outside the advertising and media industry to give us a more rounded view of the world. We’re looking forward to making further announcements in this space very soon.”
